Application for Employment
Most people applying for a job, regardless of
the quality of their professional skills,
regularly make the experience of being rejected
by companies, just because this often underrated
collection of personal documents is composed
incorrectly.
There is a certain amount of rules which should
necessarily be followed and, furthermore, a few
more advice and tips that add a special taste of
professionalism to every application.
First and foremost, orthographical and
grammatical norms should be carefully paid
attention to. Being capable of this demonstrates
a certain level of competence, as far as general
knowledge and an adequate grade of education are
concerned.
Depending on the job and regional standards
these skills can also be proved by attaching
one’s school or university report. Documents
like testimonials or certificates of employment,
however, should be party of the application in
any case.
In addition to that, every commendable applicant
needs to know all parts and contents of his or
her own application. This can be helpful,
because in the upcoming job interview questions
might be asked about every detail. Especially
the not-so-glorious spots in the certificates
and reports become topic of the subsequent job
interview.
One aspect every applicant should make become a
topic himself is the personal motif to apply
this particular job.
For professions which require an academic
education a so-called letter of motivation is
appropriate. In such a statement, the applicant
describes the previous stations of his career
and the reasons for his former job choices.
It is also advisable to emphasize those
experiences and personal skills that make an
applicant especially suitable for the profession
concerned. Daring to let some personal passion
for a job or an activity shine through is often
recommended, too.
Another important document of an application for
employment is the Curriculum Vitae. It gives a
structured overview on the applicant’s
educational and working career.
Moreover hobbies and personal interests are
mentioned. Non-profit activities, side jobs and
internships are also part of the CV.
All in all, a clean, well-structured and
linguistically correct application, representing
the passionate but honest interest of the
applicant is the best way to succeed.
